New DV solution from AWE?

http://tinyurl.com/569zjl

$129.95

Wondering where your boost went? Power delivery not as smooth as it used to be? Most likely your engine's diverter valve is to blame.

What is a diverter valve? A diverter valve (DV) is a pathway for boost when it is not being used by your engine. Whenever the throttle body is closed, like during shifts or deceleration, the boost needs an escape route. If the boost cannot escape during these times, it can back up and cause shocks to the turbo. These shocks will stall the turbo, slowing boost production upon re-acceleration (turbo lag). Even worse, these shocks can cause damage to the turbo. The diverter valve's job is to open when the throttle body is closing or closed, and reroute the boost to the low pressure intake side of the turbo, where it can do no harm.

Years ago, we became the US distributor for Bailey Motorsport's alloy diverter valve which became the gold standard of replacement DVs for numerous VW, Audi, and Porsche models.

However, the current 2.0T models from VW and Audi use a much more complex diverter valve, and the Bailey Motorsport unit is not a suitable or practical replacement.

Despite the more complex OEM design, the VW/Audi DV fails in the same manner as the older design, which results in serious loss of boost and power.

During development of 750+ hp turbo kits for Porsche models, we came across a Porsche factory DV that indeed can go the distance. We designed a few companion parts, and this DV in essence is now a direct replacement for the problematic VW/Audi unit. No permanent modifications are required for install and our Electronic DV Simulator plugs right into the factory wiring harness to eliminate any fault codes from tripping your Check Engine Light.

Simple and elegant in its design, yet made for OEM applications almost triple the power output of the stock 2.0T engine, this DV is a serious performer and has been extensively track, street, and dyno tested on multiple cars in multiple climates.

Install of the A.W.E. Performance DV is a simple half hour install procedure and it is the most economical solution on the market for the chronic DV issue.

is it a Full replacement ie: Bolt on or is it a Rebuild kit?
What are the other parts included there for?

this is a mechanical solution. the stock dv is electromechanical. so this dv operates similar to standard dv's, using vacuum operation only.

Nice, I'm considering getting one. Wish they had some specials going on down at h2o, I'd most likely buy it there. I like the BSH kit, but $130s not bad for this.

I'm interested in seeing numbers....kinda like the guy on here that did testing of the forge dv vs the stock version "g". The stock had higher numbers, but the forge will last longer and take more abuse.

I like the price of this though.

electromechanical (stock for example) is much better. it will operate using the signals sent from ecu.
whats faster? boost or signals sent from ecu via electrical wires?

That's the debate, and most cars use a mechanical valve. Why would electromechanical be much better? The goal is simply to prevent compressor surge, so whether it opens mechanically or electromechanically the job gets done. I would love to see the millisecond differences.

What also makes me wonder is that I hear my stock dv that's electronically controlled flutter under partial throttle...

I don't have any empirical evidence, but it's been doing its job for the last week w/ no CEL.

Looks like it will still be prone to diaphram failure, just like the OEM DV. Go with the BSH kit or DIY with an ATP block-off and an off-the-shelf DV from audi or mitsubishi. I did mine for $40, so no this is not THE most economical solution out there ;)

The diaphragm may fail, but it is much thicker compared to stock. I wish I could go for the BSH relocation, but the A3 doesn't have the noise pipe, etc.

I doubt it will fail even at stage 3
